Recently I started to play around code.org, not only because my wife now learns programming, but also because I wanted to look for ways that could raise the interest of kids in programming. My daughters have been learning LOGO in school, but didn’t fall in love with it. They used to play around with Scratch, but that was not enough either.
Now I’ve found it: the programmable robot that is much cheaper than LEGO Mindstorms, much simpler to handle than a Raspberry Pi, and I think much more attractive than LOGO or plain Scratch.
It is called The Finch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Imq5lo3HuE
It costs only 99 USD, you can program it using various programming languages, and it even has a Snap!-based PROGRAMMING ENVIRONMENT FOR KIDS OF AGE 4-7: http://www.finchrobot.com/software/snap-and-finch-ages-4-7
