Recently I got a new thermostat at home that is better and smarter than the old one. However, it isn’t connected to the internet.
Recently I started using a Raspberry Pi as a digital media player for our good old bedroom TV. It is not even connected to WIFI, after I gave up struggling with signal strength issues. A 16 GB pendrive mounted under Linux is perfect for the purpose.
Probably the problem is with me. I’m neither a snob nor a gadget-freak with plenty of free time to play around with expensive toys.
I’m strongly convinced that IoT stuff makes a lot of sense in plenty of industrial or business scenarios. However, I think IoT usefulness at home still has to prove itself.
